Jarosław Kaczyński is a Polish politician. He was born in Warsaw on June 18, 1949.
A lawyer by profession, Kaczyński was a key figure in the Solidarity movement during the communist era. He co-founded the Law and Justice (PiS) party with his twin brother, Lech Kaczyński.
He served as the Prime Minister of Poland from 2006 to 2007. Since the death of his brother, Lech, in the 2010 Smolensk air disaster, Jarosław Kaczyński has been the chairman of the Law and Justice party. PiS has been a dominant force in Polish politics since 2015.
Though he has held no formal government position since 2007 except for a short stint as Deputy Prime Minister (2020-2022), Kaczyński is widely considered the most powerful politician in Poland, wielding significant influence over the ruling party and government policies.
